- Measure the available wall or floor area and mark nearby doors.
- Allow for opening drawers, moving chairs and walking around the piece.
- Check the route through lifts, stairs, corridors and doorways.

Start with what it needs to do, then discuss the look.
- For a sofa, discuss seating, depth and upholstery preferences.
- For a bed, confirm mattress size and how storage should open.
- For dining furniture, discuss everyday seating and available circulation space.
Confirm the complete offer
The quote should identify the actual item and supply terms.
- Confirm dimensions, materials, finish and included components.
- Ask whether delivery, assembly and access charges are included.
- Review care information and any applicable product warranty.
